Ryan, last season you played in Munich and are now back in Salzburg. What were the reasons for the change?
Ryan Duncan: It wasn't an option for me to stay in Munich so quickly my focus turned to finding a new team. I really enjoyed my previous 3 seasons in Salzburg and I was fortunate they were willing to take me back In Munich, it has not worked out so well last season.
What was the reason?
Ryan Duncan: There were a lot of reasons. I'm not going to place blame because that serves no purpose now. The people involved know what happened. We showed glimpses of the potential we had but things didn't work out in the end.
Was that your opinion also to coach Pierre Page or to you cracks?
Ryan Duncan: Red Bull wants to be always on top.
If the pressure in the EBEL higher than in the DEL?
Ryan Duncan: I think everyone involved would agree we underachieved as a team. Anytime you represent Red Bull I think that pressure is there. They want to be the best. I think any player signing with either team (in the EBEL or DEL) understands that.
Where the EBEL and the DEL differ?
Ryan Duncan: I think the style of play is similar. Both are great leagues. Both have great fans. The DEL has some beautiful NHL style arena's. I think the DEL is the more established league but I think the EBEL has continued to get better and better each season since I first played in the league in 2009.
How did you spend the summer break?
Ryan Duncan: I spent the majority of my summer break in Minnesota training and skating. In my free time I tried my best to see as many of my family and friends as possible
What experience do you have gathered in Germany?
Ryan Duncan: I have a lot of good memories from last season. Munich was an outstanding world class city and I'm happy I had the experience of living there. Also, getting to explore another country and its culture like Germany is something I'll take with me for the rest of my life
